On Monday, Oct. 20, 2014, Gov. Matt Mead signed a proclamation declaring the week of Oct. 19 – 25, 2014 to be Pro Bono Week in Wyoming. Gov. Mead was joined by Wyoming Supreme Court Chief Justice James Burke; Justice Kate Fox, Chair of the Wyoming Access to Justice Commission; Wyoming Attorney General Peter Michael; and Pat Day, Board President of the Wyoming Center for Legal Aid Board of Commissioners. The ceremony kicks off the week long pro bono celebration with events across the state.
Pro Bono Week is a national celebration which focuses attention on the importance of volunteer attorneys and the impact they have in their communities. The week also recognizes the partnerships between legal aid programs, the State Bar, local bar associations, and private attorneys in delivering legal services to individuals who would otherwise be unable to afford an attorney.
